Carhartt Work in Progress, or Carhartt WIP for short, stands for the authentic further development of classic, American workwear. The success story of the legendary brand began in the early 90s.
Carhartt Work In Progress – new continent, new context
The Carhartt Company has existed since 1889 and can thus draw on over 100 years of experience in the manufacture of durable and hard-wearing workwear. The company manufactured products for American workers and the military, among others. Worker jackets like the Carhartt Chore Coat already had cult status back then.
"One brand, two stories - Carhartt & Work in Progress"
In 1989 Edwin Faeh began to distribute American Carhartt products in Europe under the name "All American Concept" and in 1994 Carhartt Work in Progress was born. At that time, the brand was already known and in great demand in the underground scenes of skateboarding, hip-hop and BMX. The French film "La Haine" (1995) by Mathieu Kassovitz took advantage of the rising popularity and was the first film to focus on Carhartt WIP as a brand.
Soon after, Carhartt's traditional product values, such as purposeful cuts and durable materials were also adapted for skateboarding. Classic Carhartt WIP pants like the Simple Pant or rugged basic sweatshirts, hoodies and beanies from Carhartt WIP are now almost indispensable in the urban lifestyle. All Carhartt WIP Classics and more you can order online in the skatedeluxe skate shop.
Home - Carhartt creates a new home with WIP
For almost 30 years now, Carhartt Work in Progress has always produced reliable apparel of the highest quality and strives for creative input in the art, music and skateboarding scene. This has resulted in exciting projects such as the specially published Carhartt WIP Magazine or the Carhartt WIP Radio. Carhartt WIP created accordingly, a dynamic, imaginative platform that always maintains the reference to traditional workwear.
In the recent past, Carhartt WIP clothing has spawned collaborations with renowned skate brands such as Polar Skate Co, Isle Skateboards, Pass-Port, HOCKEY.
