Although the history of nitro snowboards began in Seattle, Washington, the two German snowboard enthusiasts Sepp Ardelt and Tommy Delago are the faces behind the brand.

In 1990, they took over the brand from a larger company and focused on producing high-quality snowboards, hardware, boots and accessories.
