The skate scene in Japan has been thriving for years, and cities like Tokyo and Osaka are developing into Japanese skate hotspots. The European skate scene has also put it on its radar. This is due to the videos, team and the Evisen streetware. The brand was founded in Tokyo in 2011 by Japanese skateboarder Katsumi Minami. His reason for this was to support the local skateboard community around Tokyo, Sendai and Osaka.
Evisen graphics often take on the classic Japanese technique "Ukiyo-e" and give it a contemporary touch. Colorful and surreal graphics that relate to cultural themes can be found on skateboard decks, t-shirts, longsleeves and more. Even as a collab partner, Evisen has already proven its worth and together with adidas has created a comprehensive collection.
Evisen - more than just a skate brand
Evisen is more than a standard skateboard brand. Team member Shinpei Ueno is connected to Tightbooth Production (TBPR) and the skate shop SHRED in Osaka. The Evisen team also releases the ER magazine. All of this is summarized under the parent company Kinari, which is also a distributor. Skate products, clothing, distribution, shop, print magazine - Evisen is on top of its game.
Evisen's skate team includes Maru, Shinpei Ueno, Akira Imamura, Katsumi Minami, Seimi Miyahara, Koichiro Uehara, Laurence Keefe and Shore West. The first Evisen video appeared in 2017, and attracted worldwide attention through creative skating and hidden spots. Bits and pieces of it have gradually been put online and the Maru Part is one of a kind.
