More Than Socks – the founding of Chrystie NYC
The two founders, Aaron Hennington and Pep Kim, launched the brand in 2016 to open new channels for their creativity. Although Chrystie NYC's product line ranges from T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and long sleeves, it all started with socks. Both Aaron and Pep are strongly associated with the city and its everyday life. So, it was natural to name the new project after their hub & cultural epicentre, Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side.
It's from there that both organise their joint venture and explore their local environment; each in his own way: Pep Kim with the camera and Aaron on four wheels. Hence, the fascination for skateboarding is shared by both of them. Pep Kim is even responsible for portraits of Jason Dill, Brian Anderson and Mark Gonzales, and has worked for major adidas Skateboarding and Stone Island campaigns.
Made for the Streets - the Chrystie NYC Skate Team
It's not surprising that many creative skateboarders gather around the Polar Skate Co. pro Aaron Herrington. Just like the brand itself, the Chrystie NYC Skate Team stands for new ideas and a unique style.
This is ensured by a skate team consisting of Aaron himself and team riders like Alexis Sablone, Shane Farber, Brett Weinstein, John Baragwanath, Kaio Hillebrand & Maxi Schaible. Accordingly, the skating of the team is always full of surprises, and it also benefits from Pep Kim's creative filming.
